| Plot |
| When Norman Puckle (Norman Wisdom) is denied by the love of his life, he attempts suicide several times but is eventually saved by someone who convinces him to join the British Navy (the person being from the navy himself). Norman quickly finds out life isn't so rosy in the But life isn't so rosy in the navy as Norman quicly finds and he is chosen to be the first test subject for a planned rocket to outer space. This comedy classic is notable for the only occasion where future British film stars Michael Caine and Oliver Reed share a scene together. It takes place in a cinema lobby, where Norman gets into a fight with a gang of Teddy Boys (one of which is played by Reed), only to be helped by some of his sailor friends, which include Caine. William Roache, of Coronation Street fame, also has a bit role. |
